Grant of Limited License

SPREAD is a software package that is intended to provide group
communications and reliable multicast services across local and wide
area networks such as the Internet. SPREAD includes computer software
and may include associated media, printed materials, and ``online'' or
electronic documentation. By installing, copying or otherwise using
SPREAD, you agree to be bound by the terms of this License. Read its
terms very carefully. If you do not agree to these terms, do not
install or use SPREAD.

This License is granted by the copyright owners of SPREAD: Yair Amir,
Michal Miskin-Amir and Jonathan Stanton.

SPREAD is protected by the copyright laws of the United States
of America and international copyright treaties.

Terms

(a) You are granted a perpetual, royalty-free, non-exclusive license,
subject to the claims of any third parties, to use SPREAD Version 3.13 or
lower as it is required by (1) Apache web server logging modules in
conjunction with the Apache web server to provide a facility to publish
web logs to a multicast group and (2) such programs required to journal
these said web logs to a storage device or display them.  Web logs are
defined as messages describing either errors or the details of an HTTP
request that has elapsed.  To apply for a license for any other intended

(b) Any use or distribution you make of SPREAD is subject to this
License.

(c) Any software or system which uses SPREAD must display a statement
with the following information: SPREAD is copyrighted by the above
owners, the official SPREAD website is http://www.spread.org, SPREAD is
provided subject to this License and that SPREAD is provided AS IS, with
NO WARRANTY. This statement must be displayed in the documentation, in
any material which describes the rights of the recipient, in any screen
describing credits if the software has a user-visible interface, and on
any web page describing credits.

(d) You are free to publish (in print or electronic form) your work
involving SPREAD, including performance benchmarks, provided you
credit SPREAD's copyright owners, and provide a copy of what you

(i) Each contributor hereby grants to the copyright owners and you the
same rights to their modifications that you are granted in the above
sections. Each contributor also grants to the copyright owners a
world-wide, royalty-free, perpetual, non-exclusive license, subject to
third party intellectual property claims: to use, reproduce, modify,
display, perform, sub-license, sell, and distribute the contributor's
modifications in future versions of SPREAD, or other software
developed by the copyright owners, even if such software is released
under a different license.
